PROJECT ZOMBOID SERVER
i love roleplaying in project zomboid it's my favorite thing to do. i run a kind of light-rp zomboid server for build 41 until omichat is able to run on build 42 :)
i want to offer a modlist before the server information so you have an idea before going in! here's the link to the steam workshop collection, and here's a curated list of my most important/favorite/most relevant mods for the server on the right!
i would like to reiterate: this is not an exhaustive list of the mods on the server. the full workshop collection has nearly 200 mods. if any of this does sound appealing, feel free to connect at:
ip: 142.44.191.71
port: 9089
no password, no whitelist
please don't make me change that >_>
omichat
roleplay-oriented chat plugin; converts messages to 'Character says, "I'm saying something right now."' and others
fluffy hair & spongie's hair
amazing pair of mods to add more hairstyles to the game
time-period accurate music
add-on for true music that adds hundreds of songs from before 1993 for peak immersion!
spongie's clothing & open jackets
another great pair of mods both from spongie this time, adding more clothing styles and the ability to wear jackets open or closed
rv interior
must-have for any zomboid run; adds interiors to many large vehicles that you can enter, decorate, and even add plumbing to.
more traits
self-descriptive; adds dozens of new traits to personalize your survivor and give yourself better (or worse) odds of survival
lifestyle: hobbies
adds the ability to play instruments, make art, dance, and keep your space clean
true music & jukebox & radio
big set of mods that add playable vinyls and cassettes to the game, makes jukeboxes able to play them, and adds radio stations that randomly cycle through songs.
definitive zombies & screecherZ
my favorite pair of mods for b41 difficulty modification; select certain percentages of zombie strength, speed, memory, and more, and screecherZ makes it so that all sprinters scream when they spot you.
sapph's cooking
a great mod that adds massive expansions to the cooking system and dozens of new recipes to learn and create to keep your survivor happy.
ttrp poses & fuu's rp poses
two huge and wonderful suites of emotes and poses to give more roleplay immersion
basements
a b41 specific mod since they were added in b42, allows you to build hatches inside buildings to teleport to a room that functions as a basement.
PROJECT ZOMBOID GRAPHICS
project zomboid has a lot of really nice little pixels that could be used for a whole lot of things! favicons, list bullets, pixel hoards... especially including modded items, there's a lot of stuff to find. a lot of these are also listed on the project zomboid wiki, but this page is from my own datamining efforts! if you're a mod creator and you don't want one of these being used, please contact me via email or discord and i will take them down as soon as possible.
feel free to hotlink, but you should save them yourself just in case anyone asks me to take something off of this page in particular and the hotlink goes down. :)

ADOPT A PROJECT ZOMBOID SURVIVOR
i love my project zomboid survivors! they spend a lot of time... well... surviving, and they're here to offer you a hand. :) feel free to hotlink or upload to your own server! make sure to link back!
if YOU have a survivor that you want to put up for adoption, please e-mail me a screenshot of your survivor according to the following requirements:
1. the screen must be fully zoomed in 2. your survivor must be standing on a light background, or at least a solid-color one 3. preferably, your survivor is holding their weapon of choice at the ready 4. DO NOT TRANSPARENT IT YOURSELF! please. <3 i want to ensure that these have a nice uniform look so i'd like to edit the image and upload it for you!
you can use these on your tumblr, your website, or anywhere else that lets you edit html! :)

OTHERS' ADOPTIONS
these are the survivors other people have made that they also love dearly, and hope you appreciate their protection just as much!

PROJECT ZOMBOID TIPS
so... you don't really go 2,000+ hours in a game without learning SOMETHING or other. and it seems that a lot of new zomboid players find their way to me...! or i just get people into zomboid. it's my favorite thing to do. yes i will buy project zomboid for you because i want the indie stone to have a bunch of money and i love them.
anyways. aside from that tangent! i do have some tidbits of advice that i can bestow unto you, reader. hopefully it's interesting enough to keep your attention!
RULE ONE: PLAY YOUR WAY.
project zomboid has a sandbox mode for a reason! yes, the devs have a penchant for tormenting the players personally - i will never forget the time i spent real-life months trying to find a paintbrush in a low-loot server - but they still want you to play and have fun.
there are plenty of sandbox settings to curate your gameplay experience! do you want more zombies? do you want less zombies? do you want NO ZOMBIES AT ALL? should there be more or less of a certain kind of loot? what if it was always cold, or always snowing, or always foggy...? what if we started in the middle of winter instead of the end of summer?
the sandbox mode lets you curate all of these options, and i'm almost ashamed to say that i don't play on apocalypse settings. i don't enjoy excessive difficulty - i enjoy variable difficulty. instead of high zombie counts and low loot spawns, i like to have lower zombies and a bit more loot - but i do like to play with mixed speeds. 10% sprinters, 60% shamblers, 30% fast shamblers... and my favorite mod - that i'm really, really, really hoping gets updated to build 42 soon (braven, if you're reading this somehow, your mods are fucking awesome. keep up the good work.) - is the ScreecherZ mod, that makes sprinter zombies scream when they target you. it's terrifying, and a great warning.
RULE TWO: ALWAYS BE AFRAID.
project zomboid is a game that is always waiting to get the drop on you. in every single situation, assume that you won't get out alive. that isn't to say just let yourself die - i mean that in the sense of never trust that a plan will follow through.
don't be confident that you've killed all of the zombies in an area. don't run into rooms thinking they'll be empty. always assume that a zombie will be behind that door - always assume you've forgotten or lost a straggler or two that are still trailing after you, and every noise you make.
be constantly aware of your surroundings. turn and spin around regularly and check your sides and your back to see if there's anything nearby, especially when you're already fighting a horde. a bite from behind is almost certain doom.
even with two thousand hours i stay wary. even in servers where people are geared to the teeth and have mowed down everything in the area, i still walk carefully. zombie migration is a hell of a mechanic, and some people play with respawn on.
RULE THREE: KNOW YOUR ENEMY.
excessively dramatic way to phrase this one, but basically: i personally recommend embracing the technical knowledge. that doesn't mean you need to understand every single line of code - i just mean that looking into technical info and reading the zomboid wiki or watching videos about gameplay functions will absolutely give you a leg up!
retanaru is an amazing youtuber who does TONS of zomboid technical deep-dives. he has videos on zombie memory and pathfinding, the math of how exhaustion works and how different limbs and traits factor in, and how different weapon damage is calculated. these all sound strange and maybe not all that helpful, but i promise that they are.
did you know that at the first tier of exertion, you deal half as much damage as when you're fully rested? and that it hikes up to an 80% damage dropoff at the second tier of exertion?
or that zombies don't just pathfind from where they are to wherever they see you - nor that they stop tracking if you run behind a wall and keep running. retanaru has a convenient 4-minute video explaining this, but, basically... zombies will lock on to you, and if you run behind a wall and don't stop, the zombie stays locked onto you. if you dip behind a wall and stop for a few seconds, that location gets imprinted as a sort of "memory" and the zombie only paths to the end of that wall. it's incredibly fascinating - and practically essential for understanding how to consistently shake a horde off your tail!
RULE FOUR: MIX IT UP.
it can be tempting to always play the same way every time - the same tools, the same base, the same ideas. it can even be tempting to always play the same playstyle or gamemode.
this isn't great when your human brain wants variety!
in all honesty - the vast majority of my time in project zomboid has been spent in multiplayer roleplay! even in singleplayer, i do a lot of "roleplaying" on my own and building around who my survivor is. i like considering what weapons they'd use, or if they'd care for fighting at all - maybe you'd rather survive by avoidance than confrontation.
there are lots of gamemodes available, too! there's the CDDA gamemode, designed to be mind-numbingly difficult, or the house in the woods that functions like an endless wave style game. there are a lot of things you can do with this game - and that's not even getting into mods!
i hope you found some piece of insight or another in this scattered collection of thoughts and advice :^)
EMOJI COLLECTION
these are custom emotes that i've collected over my years on the internet! these are from revolt, mastodon, discord, etc... anywhere i've seen a silly emote i liked, i saved it! if one of these belong to you, let me know and i'll add a credit and a link back to you!

i love gifs. i love reaction images. i love cute things and weird things and absurd things. i love collecting images and being a data hoarder. here is a small selection of my highest-quality (aka my favorite) random gifs i've found. i hope they baffle and delight you as much as they do me.
